We are currently seeking a Fine Gardener to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their craft and enjoys working hands-on in beautiful residential gardens throughout the city.

The Role

As a Fine Gardener, you will provide high-quality seasonal garden care while helping lead and support a team of gardeners in the field. You will play a key role in maintaining the beauty, health, and longevity of our gardens from early spring through winter preparation. This position reports directly to the Director or Operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with your team to deliver beautiful, well-maintained, and profitable garden services
  • Assist the Field Manager in guiding, training and supporting gardeners on site
  • Open and prepare gardens for the growing season
  • Perform fine gardening tasks including pruning, transplanting, dead-heading, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, and general garden care
  • Identify plants, monitor health, and apply organic treatments for pests and diseases as needed
    • IPM best practices
  • Close gardens and prepare landscapes for winter
  • Install seasonal and holiday displays
  • Operate battery-powered equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
  • Track services and materials, completing daily work orders accurately at the end of each job
  • Care for company tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Follow all job-site standards and vehicle safety procedures
  • Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities
  • Support additional tasks as needed in a collaborative team environment
  • Performs other tasks as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • Two or more years of residential fine gardening experience
  • Strong plant identification and horticultural knowledge
  • A positive, professional attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Professional appearance and attention to detail
  • Massachusetts Driver’s License required, ability to drive Cargo vans in the city
  • Industry certifications such as MCLP or MCH are a plus
